Repository navigation
The Windows path in 2.1 is using the wrong path separator #2091
This report is about the ProGit book, version 2, English language.
This bug is not about a translation or old version
Bug covers book website/pdf
I confirm the bug is about the book as found on the website/pdf
Problem is present in the Pro Git book on the website?
This bug also affects the Pro Git book as published on the website.
Which version of the book is affected?
Source files
Describe the bug:
The book shows in section 2.1:
Initializing a Repository in an Existing Directory
If you have a project directory that is currently not under version control and you want to start controlling it with Git, you first need to go to that project’s directory. If you’ve never done this, it looks a little different depending on which system you’re running:
for Linux:
cd /home/user/my_project
for macOS:
cd /Users/user/my_project
for Windows:
cd C:/Users/user/my_project
The path separator in Windows is wrong - it should be C:\Users\user\my_project, not C:/Users/user/my_project
CMD in Windows supports both types of slashes, but git-bash in Windows supports forward-slashes only, so for better compatibility forward slashes are used here and there is no mistake. #1764 (comment)
