4Site Studios is a full-service digital agency for mission-driven nonprofits. Founded in 2001 and based in Washington DC, we pair strategy, design, and engineering to build the websites, campaigns, integrations, and tools that help organizations raise more money and move more people to act. We started out making nonprofit videos and websites; today we work across the whole digital engagement stack as an extension of our clients' teams.

You may know us as the team behind ENgrid, our open-source framework for Engaging Networks. That is a big part of what we do, but it is not the whole picture. We build custom WordPress and Drupal sites, design brand systems, wire up CRMs that were never meant to talk to each other, and ship our own software products.

We are platform-agnostic and work across Engaging Networks, EveryAction, Salesforce, Luminate, Salsa, Bonterra, Sitecore, AWS, WordPress, and Drupal.

Most of our work lives here in the open. Across more than 140 public repositories you will find:

• ENgrid and dozens of per-client themes and microsites built on top of it
• WordPress plugins like ShareThumb for automated branded social share images
• Email templates, including our Engaging Networks MJML templates
• Web components and experiments, like wordle-for-good, an embeddable Wordle game, and ie11-time-to-die, our send-off for Internet Explorer 11

ENgrid is our open-source page template framework for Engaging Networks. It gives EN clients mobile-first, accessible, conversion-optimized pages for donation, advocacy, e-card, event, survey, and premium campaigns, with capabilities that go past what the platform ships out of the box.

• Free and open source under The Unlicense, with full release notes for every change
• Built with TypeScript, SCSS, and Webpack, published to npm as @4site/engrid-scripts and @4site/engrid-styles
• Accessible by default, with skip links, ARIA attributes, keyboard focus management, and autocomplete handling applied automatically
• Content-editor friendly, so layouts, backgrounds, and conditional content stay editable in the EN page builder without a developer
• Running in production for dozens of nonprofits including the World Wildlife Fund, Oxfam, PETA, the Human Rights Campaign, Amnesty International USA, and The Nature Conservancy

It began in 2017 as the free templates we built for Engaging Networks' Page Builder, then got a full rewrite in 2019 into what's here today.

• TidyContact turns advocacy and donation forms into smart forms that standardize addresses to the USPS CASS standard, format phone numbers, and validate emails in real time before they reach your CRM, plus a no-account self-service email validator
• Promotions Plugin adds no-code multi-step lightboxes, floating donation tabs, pop-ups, and animated thank-you pages for WordPress, Drupal, or any CMS, with support for Engaging Networks and EveryAction (details)
